58. Penalties for certain offences

The Act of 1893 is amended by the substitution of the following section for section 68:

"68.

(1) Every society, officer or member of a society, or other person, guilty of an offence under this Act for which no penalty is expressly provided herein, shall be liable to a class A fine.

(2) A person guilty of an offence under section 13 shall be liable -

(a) on summary conviction, to a class A fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both, or

(b) on conviction on indictment, to a fine not exceeding €50,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or both.".
