2.1.1. Categorisation of institutions (paras. 17-19)

17. Competent authorities should categorise all institutions under their supervisory remit into the following categories:

- Category 1 - all institutions defined as 'large institutions' pursuant to Article 4(1), point (146) of Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 and, as appropriate, other institutions determined by competent authorities, based on an assessment of the institution's size and internal organisation and the nature, scope and complexity of its activities. Competent authorities can decide to classify 'large institutions' under Article 4(1)(146) of Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 that are not G-SIIs or O-SIIs as Category-2 institutions as appropriate based on the assessment of the institution's risk profile.
