THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 29 thereof,

Having regard to Council Regulation (EU) 2023/427 of 25 February 2023 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine[OJ L 59 I, 25.2.2023, p. 6.], and in particular Article 1, point (20), thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Whereas:

(1) On 25 February 2023, the Council adopted Regulation (EU) 2023/427, which amended Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 [Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 of 31 July 2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine (OJ L 229, 31.7.2014, p. 1).] and introduced further restrictive measures to suspend the broadcasting activities in the Union, or directed at the Union, of certain media outlets. Those outlets are set out in in Annex V to Regulation (EU) 2023/427. Pursuant to Article 1, point (20), of Regulation (EU) 2023/427, the applicability of such measures in respect of one or several of those media outlets is subject to the adoption of implementing acts by the Council.
