Where, immediately before the amalgamation day any legal proceedings are pending to which any of the banks is a party and the proceedings have reference to the business of the bank, the name of the amalgamated bank shall on the amalgamation day be substituted for that of that bank and the proceedings shall not abate by reason of such substitution.
