On 30 September 2015, the European Commission published a proposal for a Regulation amending Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 on prudential requirements for credit institutions and investment firms (COM(2015)0473 final) along with a proposal for a Regulation laying down common rules on securitisation and creating a European framework for simple, transparent and standardised securitisation. The two proposals aim to restart European securitisation markets in a sustainable way, in order to improve the financing of the EU economy, while ensuring financial stability and investor protection, and to revise accordingly the regulatory framework on capital charges for exposures to securitisations.
On 26 October 2017, the European Parliament adopted the proposals in its plenary session.
