The Third Schedule to the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961 is amended by -
(a) the insertion, in column (2) at reference number 6, of "a defamation action within the meaning of the Defamation Act 2009," between "other than" and "an action", and
(b) the insertion of the following:

Where the amount of the claim does not exceed €50,000. |
At the election of the plaintiff - (a) the judge of the circuit where the tort is alleged to have been committed, or (b) the judge of the circuit where the defendant or one of the defendants resides or carries on business. |
