(1) This Order may be cited as the Friendly Societies Act 1992 (Commencement No. 6 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1993.

(2) In this Order -

"the 1923 Act" means the Industrial Assurance Act 1923 [13 and 14 Geo. 5 c.8.];

"the 1974 Act" means the Friendly Societies Act 1974 [1974 c. 46.];

"the 1992 Act" means the Friendly Societies Act 1992;

"Chief Registrar" means the Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies;

"collecting society" has the meaning given to that term in section 1(1A) of the 1923 Act [Section 1(1A) was inserted by section 97 of, and Part II of Schedule 6 to the Companies Act 1967 (c. 81) and substituted by paragraph 2(1) of Part I of Schedule 19 to the Friendly Socities Act 1992 (c. 40).];

"Commission" means the Friendly Societies Commission established under section 1 of the 1992 Act;

"insurance business" has the meaning given to that term in section 117(1) of the 1992 Act;
