Schedule - Micro-businesses and new businesses
Micro-businesses
1. A micro-business is a business that has fewer than 10 employees (see paragraphs 7 to 9).
Existing micro-businesses
2. An existing micro-business is a business that was a micro-business immediately before 6th April 2013.
New businesses
(1) A new business is a business which a person, or a number of persons, ("P") begins to carry on during the period beginning with 6th April 2013 and ending with 12th June 2014.
(2) That is subject to sub-paragraphs (3), (4) and (6).
(3) A business ("Business 2") is not a new business if -
(a) P has, at any time during the period of 6 months ending immediately before the date on which P begins to carry on Business 2, carried on another business ("Business 1"), and
(b) Business 1 consisted of the activities of which Business 2 consists (or most of them), unless Business 1 was itself a new business.
(4) A business is not a new business if -
(a) P begins to carry on the business on another person ceasing to carry on the activities of which it consists (or most of them), and
