Article 5 Information on consumer rights

DRAFT Point replaced Article 3 Amendment to Directive (EU) 2019/2161 of the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2013/11/EU on alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes, as well as Directives (EU) 2015/2302, (EU) 2019/2161 and (EU) 2020/1828 (COM(2023) 649 final / 2023/0376 (COD)) (updated 20 September 2024 with Note - Mandate for negotiations with the European Parliament)

The Commission shall ensure that citizens seeking information on their consumer rights or on out-of-court dispute resolution benefit from an online entry point, through the single digital gateway established by Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 of the European Parliament and of the Council [Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 2 October 2018 establishing a single digital gateway to provide access to information, to procedures and to assistance and problem-solving services and amending Regulation (EU) No 1024/2012 (OJ L 295, 21.11.2018, p. 1).], enabling them to:

(a) access up-to-date information about their Union consumer rights in a clear, understandable and easily accessible manner; and

(b) submit a complaint through the online dispute resolution platform established under Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 and to the competent centre of the European Consumer Centres Network, depending on the parties involved.
