(1) The Minister may give such general policy directions (including directions in respect of the contribution of airports to the regions in which they are located) to the Commission as he or she considers appropriate to be followed by the Commission.

(2) The Commission shall comply with any direction given under subsection (1).

(3) The Minister shall not give a policy direction under subsection (1) in respect of the exercise of the principal function of the Commission specified in section 7.
