Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 53(1) and Article 62 thereof,

After transmission of the draft legislative act to the national parliaments,
Having regard to the opinion of the European Economic and Social Committee [OJ C 44, 15.2.2013, p. 95.],
Acting in accordance with the ordinary legislative procedure [Position of the European Parliament of 24 November 2015 (not yet published in the Official Journal) and decision of the Council of 14 December 2015.],
Whereas:
(1) A number of amendments are to be made to Directive 2002/92/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council [Directive 2002/92/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 December 2002 on insurance mediation (OJ L 9, 15.1.2003, p. 3).]. In the interests of clarity, that Directive should be recast.
