120. Promotion of road safety.

(1) The council of a county, the corporation of a county or other borough, the council of an urban district or the commissioners of a town may incur expenditure for the purpose of promoting safety on roads, and the expenditure may include payments for that purpose to any other authority or person.

(2) The Minister may, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, make grants from moneys provided by the Oireachtas -

(a) towards the expenses of an association or body where the advancement of road safety is among the primary objects of the association or body, and

(b) towards the expenses under subsection (1) of this section of any council, corporation or commissioners.
