Regulation 2 Designation of competent authorities
(1) The FCA [Defined in section 417(1) of the Act.] is the competent authority responsible for -
(a) the supervision of trading venues [Defined in Article 2(1)(42) of the CSD regulation.] for the purposes of the CSD regulation;
(b) the functions referred to in Article 4(3) of the CSD regulation;
(c) the supervision of investment firms authorised pursuant to Part 4a of the Act for the purposes of the CSD regulation;
(d) the supervision of participants [Defined Article 2(1)(19) of the CSD regulation. Definitions in the CSD regulation apply by virtue of S.I. 2014/2879.] in a securities settlement system [Defined in Article 2(1)(10) of the CSD regulation.] for the purposes of the CSD regulation, other than recognised clearing houses [Defined in section 417(1) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.] or recognised CSDs [A definition is inserted into section 417(1) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 by these Regulations.].
