Where any notice is required by this Part of this Act to be served by an industrial assurance company on any person who has effected a policy of industrial assurance with such company, such notice shall (save as is otherwise provided by this Act) be in writing and may be served by being delivered to such person or left for such person at his last known place of abode or sent by prepaid ordinary post addressed to such person at his last known place of abode.
