9. Cancelling and suspension of registry.

(1) The registrar may cancel the registry of a society in writing:

(a) If at any time it is proved to his satisfaction that the number of the members of the society has been reduced to less than seven, or that an acknowledgment of registry has been obtained by fraud or mistake, or that the society has ceased to exist;

(b) If he thinks fit, at the request of a society, to be evidenced in such manner as he shall from time to time direct;

(bb) where the society has been wound up by the High Court under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts, 1893 to 1978;

(bc) where the society has ceased to function or where it has suspended its business for a period of not less than six months.

(c) On proof to his satisfaction that the society exists for an illegal purpose, or has wilfully and after notice from a registrar violated any of the provisions of this Act.

(2) The registrar, in any case in which he might cancel the registry of a society, may suspend the same, in writing, for any term not exceeding three months, and may renew such suspension from time to time for the like period.
