54. Processing of special categories of personal data for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes

Subject to compliance with section 42, the processing of special categories of personal data is lawful where such processing is necessary and proportionate for -

(a) archiving purposes in the public interest,

(b) scientific or historical research purposes, or

(c) statistical purposes.
