197. Amendment of section 66 of Civil Registration Act 2004
Section 66 of the Civil Registration Act 2004 is amended -
(a) in subsection (1), by the substitution of "Notwithstanding anything contained in any other enactment, but subject to the Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, an tArd-Chláraitheoir may" for "Notwithstanding anything contained in the Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2003 or any other enactment, an tArd-Chláraitheoir may", and
(b) by the substitution of the following subsection for subsection (2):
"(2) In this section -
'Data Protection Regulation' means Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 [OJ No. L 119, 4.5.2016, p.1] on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);
'information' includes personal data;
'personal data' means personal data within the meaning of -
(a) the Data Protection Act 1988,
(b) the Data Protection Regulation, or
(c) Part 5 of the Data Protection Act 2018.".
