131. Search warrants

(1) If a judge of the District Court is satisfied on the sworn information of an authorised officer that there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that information required by an authorised officer for the purpose of performing his or her functions under this Part is held at any place, the judge may issue a warrant authorising him or her, accompanied if the officer considers it necessary by such other person or a member of the Garda Síochána, at any time or times from the date of issue of the warrant, on production, if so required, of the warrant, to enter, if need be by reasonable force, the place and exercise all or any of the powers conferred on an authorised officer under section 130.

(2) The period of validity of a warrant shall be 28 days from its date of issue, but that period of validity may be extended in accordance with subsections (3) and (4).
